Thorston is dying. Only the instructions from the Book without Words can save him. He has everything in place. All that remains is for him to die, return to life, swallow the first stone, die, return to life, swallow the second stone, etc. through the fourth stone at which time Sybil his servant, and Odo his magical talking raven will die, giving him his gift of new life.
