Booktalk:
As a last resort, my Grandfather sent me off to the Creative Academy, the homeschool for the Applewhites.
Zededian Applewhite, of Zedediah Applewhite handcrafted wood furniture, the patriarch of the family. Randolph Applewhite, his son, was a famous theater director married to Sybil (Formerly Debbie Jamison) Applewhite, famous writer of Petunia Grantham mysteries.
Archie Applewhite, famous painter, was Randolph's brother who was married to Lucille, the famous poet with the perpetually sunny disposition, whose brilliant idea it was to bring me into the school.
Then, there were the children. Hal, the oldest, kept himself locked in his room in his present incarnation of sculptor. Then, there was the aspiring ballerina, Cordelia Applewhite, the most beautiful girl I'd (Jake) ever seen. Destiny was the precocious, talkative, 4-year old who follows me around everywhere asking questions and raising havoc. Finally, there was E.D.!! Not Edie, but E period D period. Named after Edith Wharton, her mother's favorite writer. Dignified, organized, predictable.
Not to mention Wolfbane, the maniac male goat and Hasel the easygoing nanny goat. Nor, Winston, the ignored Basset who adopted me.
And, I'm supposed to be the one needing help??!!
