A Note from Georgia (Preface)
There are six things very wrong with my life:
1. I have one of those under-the skin spots that will never come to a head but lurk in a red way for the next two years.
2. It is on my nose.
3. I have a three-year-old sister who may have peed somewhere in my room.
4. In fourteen days the summer hols will be over and then it will be back to Stalag 14 and Oberfuhrer Frau Simpson and her bunch of sadistic “teachers.”
5. I am very ugly and need to go into an ugly home.
6. I went to a party dressed as a stuffed olive.
Then, there is all the confusion caused by the characters in my life.
Angus is my cat. He’s completely bonkers, especially when he has one of his "Call of the Wild" episodes. We got him, an orphan, on holiday at Loch Lomond where the Scottish landlady thought he was probably half domestic and half Scottish wildcat. I thought he would be exotic, not realizing he would grow to the size of a small Labrador, only mad (crazy).
Jas is my best friend in the whole world. Usually. Except when we’re not speaking to each other for some dumb reason; like a boy coming between us.
Mum and dad are so… Well, my dad has the mentality of a teletubby only not so developed. He gets all shirty (flustered, twitchy, pompous acting), like parents do when you point out their lack of mental capacity and usefulness.
As for mum, it’s sad that someone of her age tries to keep up with us young ones. Its like she’s having what you’d call a midlife crisis or something. Trying to look and act young.
And, of course, there’s my little sister Libby, she of the peeing variety, whom I both love and hate; sometimes at the same time.
I learned snogging (kissing), from Peter, the professional kisser, who gives free lessons to anyone who’s interested after school.
Then, there’s Tom, who wants to be Jas’ boyfriend and is but isn’t and can be but can’t, but has this sex-god older brother, Robbie, who is to die for but has this girlfriend, Lindsay who wears thongs for underwear and everything is so confusing and…
