It’s hard to feel special when you’ve spent your life being shuttled from one foster home to another. It’s hard to have a sense of place. That sense of place is something that has always bothered Maddie, so much so, that she’s created a scrapbook of cut-out places where she’d like to live. She dreams. Now, inspired by a new girl at the Home, Maddie, the new girl, two friends from the East Tennessee Children’s Home, and one outcast from the local middle school, decide to build their own house – well, more of a fort than a house – but a place to call home with people who feel like home. The whole experience and what transpires will change Maddie’s views about the real meaning of home and family.
